LIAM Bridcutt has targeted more goals after breaking his career duck in the league to snatch another Withdean win for Albion.

The midfielder’s stunning left-foot volley deep into injury time completed a dramatic 4-3 victory over Carlisle, who had just equalised through substitute Harry Arter on his debut.

It gave the Seagulls a seventh home win in succession and Bridcutt his first goal in 54 league appearances, including spells on loan from Chelsea to Yeovil, Stockport and Watford.

Bridcutt told The Argus: “It’s my weaker foot but it was one of those that fell to me perfectly, an opportunity you are not going to turn down. I just thought I’d hit it and hope for the best and it went in the back of the net.

“My shooting is not the best at the moment. It showed that I have been working on my striking. If I keep on working at it then hopefully I can get better.

“That was my first professional league goal. I think my last goal was in a reserve game. I’m not too sure when it was but they don’t really matter. League goals are the ones that matter for me.

“I’d love to be on the scoresheet again. Being a midfielder who can score goals helps you out massively.”
