Albion Reserves had to settle for a frustrating 1-1 draw at home to Aldershot today.

The Seagulls looked on course for another Combination win after dominating possession and taking a 15th-minute lead through Cristian Baz.

But Shots striker Reece Connolly tucked home a low cross six minutes from the break and the contest fizzled out in the second half.

Gary Hart had already seen a volley blocked in front of goal when Baz opened the scoring with a super angled strike into the top corner from the edge of the box.

James Smith had the best chance to double the lead but lobbed over after Agustin Battipiedi, who produced some lovely passing in the first half, played him through.

Alan Navarro got through 90 minutes as he continues to ease his way back from inury.

Watching first team boss Gus Poyet also saw on-trial left-back Ben Sampayo get a full game.

Albion Res: Brezovan; Cook, Dunk, Hall, Sampayo; Navarro, Battipiedi, Smith (Simmonds 64), Baz; Agdestein (Woodley 79), Hart (Landell 72). Unused subs: Walker, Barker, Redwood.
