Albion chairman Tony Bloom has revealed to The Argus firm plans to increase the capacity at The Amex.

The Seagulls have now sold more than 16,600 season tickets and coporate hospitality tickets for their new 22,500-seater stadium next season.

Bloom, answering fans’ questions on The Argus website, said: “The next step is to ensure that the transport works as planned.

“At that point there is a strong possibility that we will look for planning to increase the capacity, by having a second tier on the east stand and filling the corners.”

Bloom also revealed Albion hope to confirm within a week the opponents for a prestige friendly marking the official opening of the stadium, earmarked for the end of July.

A parade on Sunday May 8 – the day after the season finishes – to celebrate the club’s League One title success could be confirmed by the end of the week.

Bloom promised during the 90-minute Q&A session a “competitive budget” for manager Gus Poyet in the Championship next season.

Meanwhile, the search for an Academy site has been narrowed down to three possibilities.
