Steven King has resigned as manager of Farnborough raising speculation he could make a shock return to Lewes.
The former Rooks manager’s departure from Blue Square Bet south play-off finalists Farnborough was confirmed this morning.
Lewes have narrowed their shortlist for a successor to Tim O’Shea down to three names but are refusing to say who is in the running.
Chairman Steve Ibbitson said: “The Lewes process is a confidential process and I am not prepared to comment on any name whatsoever. That is not confirming anything or denying anything. You could ask me if Jose Mourinho had applied and I would not confirm or deny it.”
King took over as manager of Lewes in 2003, leading them to double promotion to Conference south in his first season in charge as the non-league pyramid was restructured.
He was surprisingly axed by the club within a week of winning the Blue Square Bet south title in 2008.
Lewes expect to make an announcement on their new manager early next week.
