Crawley have turned down a £1.9million joint bid from Peterborough for Tyrone Barnett and Kyle McFadzean.
Reds insisted earlier today that no more players would be leaving the club following top scorer Matt Tubbs' £800,000 move to Bournemouth yesterday.
But Posh decided to test that stance to the maximum with a huge bid on the final day of the transfer window.
It would have represented a massive profit on the pair with Barnett joining in the summer for £150,000 from Macclesfield and McFadzean for a small fee in 2010.
Peterborough are keen to bring in a new striker to bolster their firepower while McFadzean was seen as an ideal replacement for Ryan Bennett who is expected to join Swansea City.
Meanwhile, Crawley are expected to announce a new signing at 3pm today which could be striker Billy Clarke from Blackpool
