Poyet pleased with Suarez truce

Suarez refuses to shake hands with Evra at Old Trafford on Saturday Suarez refuses to shake hands with Evra at Old Trafford on Saturday

Gus Poyet is glad peace has broken out between Liverpool and Manchester United over the Luis Suarez affair ahead of Albion's FA Cup fifth round trip to Anfield on Sunday.

The Seagulls' chief said: "I'm pleased that it's over, that Liverpool and Manchester United agree and the line is finished, because it was going too far."

Suarez has apologised for not shaking the hand of Patrice Evra, the Manchester United defender he was found guilty of racially abusing, at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Poyet, who acts as a mentor to Suarez, caused controversy earlier in the season by defending his fellow Uruguayan and labelling Evra a cry baby following the racism incident at Anfield.

Evra is a cry baby, things are said in the heat of the moment,no need to go running to the FA.He should apolagise for over reacting.Anyway lets now move on now peace has broken out.

Andy: Why, at a time when everybody involved has agreed to draw a line and move on, do you feel the need to hark back to Gus's comment made at the time? Can't journalists just let things lie sometimes?

Evra did exactly what he should have done. How can you say that Evra should apologise? Racism should be kicked straight out of football, and Suarez got what he deserved with the lengthy ban. Suarez has showed time and time again he isnt the nicest of footballers, (world cup hand ball off the line, spitting on players, and now his antics on Saturday.)

Suarez not only let himself down, but his manager, team and Liverpool FC in general.

Where is the punishment for Evra in trying to 'incite' the Old Trafford crowd?
Racism where two non Anglo Saxons call each other anything in the heat of the moment on a football field should have stayed there.
8 weeks was way too excessive for the 'crime' , the FA has lost the plot again all thanks to political correctness.
What is the theory behind shaking hands prior to the kick off ? A little theatrical, no ? "Shake my hand then I'll go kick lumps outta ya " !
Suarez should be ashamed of his behaviour as should Evra after that childish performance at the end of the game. They both deserve each other if you ask me !

On Sunday the 26th January 1991 Albion came back from 2-0 down after half time in an FA Cup tie at Anfield to draw 2-2. Liverpool just scraped through in the replay. Kenny Dalglish surprisingly resigned 3 weeks later. With all the shenanigans with Suarez, the intervention of the owners to go against Dalglish's support of the player could there be unrest at Anfield?
Albion to cause an upset - Dalglish to go before the end of the month!!!

Hang on a minute. Did you say GP acts as a mentor to Suarez? I hope not. Forget about drawing a line under this issue, its only just starting, unless Liverpool sack Suarez and Dalglish stops acting like a sulky 16 year old.

I do not think Gus can say 'peace has broken out' Dalglish and Suarez were TOLD to say sorry by Liverpool owners--as I read it. Footballers at some of the bigger clubs and acting like spoilt brats and that goes for both Suarez and Evra--like two babys spitting their dummies out. I think whatever was said--was said--and the managers of BOTH players should have a stiff word in their players ears and tell them to get on with it. I am all for managers supporting and protecting their players but enough is enough. But Fergie never seems to climb down and I am surprised at Dalglish's attitude. This will rumble on, I fear
