Albion have called on clubs to be properly punished if they break Financial Fair Play rules.

David Burke, the Seagulls’ head of football operations, today spells out in The Argus how FFP affected the last transfer window.

He also stresses the importance of the club’s new training base.

Burke believes some clubs are not on course to meet strict guidelines which limit their spending.

Albion have cut costs by £3million this year to ensure their playing budget remains unchanged.

Burke said: “A club like Brighton, who have been diligent and planned meticulously for this event, would hope the Football League will be really strong and make sure the embargos and the fines or taxes for clubs not complying (with Financial Fair Play) are imposed properly.”
