Albion striker so glad he didn't join Leicester

Craig Mackail-Smith has slammed former Leicester and England chief Sven-Goran Eriksson for making him feel unwanted. The Albion marksman says Gus Poyet made much more of an effort to land his signature for the Seagulls than Leicester and other clubs who showed an interest in buying him. Leicester were in pole position to win the race for Mackail-Smith last summer before he joined Albion in a £3.25 million deal. Mackail-Smith, who leads Albion’s attack at Leicester tonight, revealed to The Argus: “I met Sven and had about a ten or 15-minute chat with him and that was it. “It was over very, very quickly. I think Peterborough did accept a bid but nothing really came of it. It kind of all fizzled out. The bid disappeared or the interest didn’t carry on. I am quite happy that I am here and it didn’t happen. “It didn’t feel like I was wanted. I went there and it was literally a 15-minute chat of what was going to happen, where as I came here and sat with Gus and Tano (assistant Mauricio Taricco) for a good two-and-a-half hours, just talking about football and the progression of the club and the progression of me. “It was nice, because that’s what I want to hear. I want to improve as a footballer, get better and go further, especially with the club. I didn’t really get that from Leicester.”
