Kuszczak back for Bolton test
10:49am Thursday 22nd November 2012 in Albion By Andy Naylor
Tomasz Kuszczak, should be fit to face Bolton
Tomasz Kuszczak should be back in goal for Albion against Bolton at The Amex on Saturday.
Kuszczak was a late withdrawal from last Saturday's 2-1 win at Huddersfield with a finger infection sustained on international duty with Poland.
Peter Brezovan took over between the posts, with second choice Casper Ankergren also sidelined by a damaged thumb.
Boss Gus Poyet said this morning: "The only doubt is Wayne (Bridge). The rest are all fit, except for Vicente.
"Tomasz and Casper are both training today. If everything goes to plan they will be available."
Poyet admits he faces a tricky decision deciding which keeper is on the bench.
Meanwhile, Albion have no plans to add to their squad before the 5pm deadline but there is still a chance of fringe players leaving.
Poyet said: "In, nothing. Out? It's not in my hands. It depends on other people, agents, and on the players.
"It's very, very calm, very quiet, which is good."

What's the point of even mentioning Vicente? He may make a couple of appearances at the end of the season but just forget he bloke, it's boring now.

No one in? The striker problem still exists. I know it's been covered to death, balh blah BUT i am still a little puzzled as to why a further opportunity to add to our striking arsenal, which is lacking any variation in calibre or firepower. Maybe Jan? Maybe no money left in the wage cabinet? But certainly not because we don't need one. We can hypothesise and argue all we like but if Bolton or Bristol park thier team bus and manage to sneak a goal, we will still be none the wiser.
I would like to see Hoskins given a chance, with CMS playing deeper but this is a variation on a tactical theme which is prone to stagnation in the face of two solid lines of four based in their own half (a la Brum).
Anyway, recent form has shown that we can play our way around the problem when on song. But i would still like to hear what Gus's current opinion on the matter is... Is Mr Naylor allowed to ask questions?
As for Vicente and Freeloader? Don Quixote and Sancho Panza? Or parhaps Freeloader's more of a Golden ****...

If Hoskins starts then Barnes won't, can't really see another option, unless Gus wants to play CMS, Buckley, Barnes and Hoskins.
Zero players in does not surprise me at all, there isn't a striker available that we would want on loan. Why take a youngster when we have those of our own. January could be a whole new ball game regarding players in and out.
Not sure I would risk Bridge, maybe give him one more week to fully recover. Painter, it was reported, had a good game and it might be prudent to start with him again.
Vicente is injured, end of comment.
Kazenga, no comment, don't know enough about any incident that may or may not have occured.
Happy Thanksgiving Day.

Whilst I know Calde can play there we only need another injury or someone being suspended to be really stretched in that position.
TFFT (TK is back).

As for the extra striker I guess we will have to wait until January.
Lets hope Bolton don't suddenly produce a 'clean sheet' defensively at least on Saturday.

Delighted to hear the manager confirm on the radio today that Will Hoskins will not be departing on loan today - don't think I dreamt it. A few posters have recently questioned playing CMS and Hoskins together. I would go for it with Dobbie as well, l with Barnes on the bench.
That is a mouth watering prospect for me. Takes courage............

pablobrowno wrote:Agreed. I posted last season that he was the perfect target man to play with CMS. There is hardly any loyalty in football but Davies appears very committed and loyal to Bolton - I think he pledged to try and get Bolton back to the Premiership, notwithstanding that a host of clubs would want him. It is always good to see class players in action whoever they play for and I'm very much looking forward to seeing how our central defenders handle him. We have our own class players so it's three points for me.
I know he's not a great goal scorer but wow we could certainly do with Kevin Davis alongside our man Cms! Shame Bolton came down to the champ as I believe he'd have been available. Not that we'd have been able to compete for his salary of course!!

can't believe that people are still harping on about a quality target man, the reason i assume we haven't acquired one is the fact that they would want to play each game, Gus' tactics are for 1 up top and he has said in the past of asked to change this he would walk. Fact is what prem/champ quality target man would join us knowing he will be on the bench for 70 mins of each game? we are not struggling to score at the moment (touch wood) but if anything happens to Macca? Lets just hope he stays fit
You obviously have niether properly read my post or aware of my general stance on our 4-3-3/4-5-1 and Gus's one up front policy. I am not arrogant enough to insist you do read it properly or keep up with the debates both for and against. However, if you did, you may realise why i (and others) keep harping on about it. CMS would not partner said striker but play behind him in the current formation. As for your comments on his fitness... Surely that's why we need some depth in that department??????????

As for the formation discussion above - it looks like they want to play 4-3-3 but the two wide strikes seem to drop too far back and Barnes seems to want to play everywhere at once. A bit of rigid structure would do us wonders!
