Kazenga LuaLua, back with Albion
Albion will assess Kazenga LuaLua's frame of mind before deciding whether to involve him in Saturday's derby at Crystal Palace.
The winger, charged with affray, is back with the Seagulls after a jury at Newcastle Crown Court failed to reach a verdict.
The jury has been discharged and the case will now be looked at again in court in two weeks.
Boss Gus Poyet told The Argus: "He trained yesterday and we will see today, how he is, how he is feeling, mentally especially.
"Maybe he has got a chance, who knows, depending on the quantity of players, how we plan the game and a few things, but especially the mental side is going to be the most important one."
Poyet remains confident of having former England left-back Wayne Bridge available after calf trouble.
He said: "We've got quite good news. I think we are going to have a very good chance of having close to a very good team, then it depends on the state of the (training) pitches, the temperature, reactions (to injuries). You never know but I'm quite confident.
"The whole situation of the team being in a decent run helps mentally as well. Everybody wants to be a part of it but we'll see."

He might be... but then he might not be! If Bridge is fit, I'd suggest that he will be the only change to the squad from Tuesday's game, with Painter dropping out. Lua Lua has been on the periphary of the squad lately and given his recent absence and perhaps focus on other issues, I can't see him getting a call for this game.

Not sure if any of this works to be honest, if I am Palace I prepare for what I think is Brighton's best line up and hope that it turns out to be weaker.
Dr. Baldhead says that he thinks that the only change would be Bridge, if he is fit, I have to think that CMS will start and I would guess El-Abd too. I have a feeling that Barnes will start, and I have said why in a different thread.
Whilst I hope for a win I would take a point right now, this will be a tough test.

I hope El-Abd starts. I was really commenting on the squad rather than the starting 11. AE-A was already in the squad on Tuesday.
In terms of the team, I think AE-A and Bridge will replace Dunk and Painter respectively and I think that CMS will also start, possibly ahead of Dobbie. You may be right about Barnes too as he offers more in defence than Hoskins, although personally I'd like to see Hosky given a run of games now.

Thanks for clearing that up, you had me worried for a moment there. It seems that we are both on the same page regarding the team for Saturday, or just about.
Setting all the rivalry aside, Palace are a good team and the point at Hull kept their season on track.
There will be some interesting matchups on saturday, Bucklley - Zahar and our back five V their's.
CMS - Murrey another.
This would be a great match even without the derby factor.

Actual bodily harm, grevious bodily harm and affray, am I right in thinking that, 'affray,' is a push and shoving event where as the other two mean that punches were thrown, or worse?
If I am right surely it's a slap on the wrists offence which he could have just plead guilty to and paid the fine and be done with it. Or have I got that wrong?

It is rarely used for just one on one handbags, or where there is a clear cut offender and victim like in assault cases. it is more indiscriminate violence that has the potential to spill over into effecting others. It is also worryingly difficult to get prosecutions authorised for it so this must have been something significant. Handbags at dawn doesn't get to crown court.
Big fan of lua lua but on this occasion there has to be significant evidence that he had been more than a bit silly.

We haven't done too well against the top teams in recent seasons. Even when we won League One, we lost at home to Saints and Huddersfield, admittedly after the title had been won.
Palace's form has dipped in the last few games. It's time for the current squad to show they are real play-off candidates by producing a memorable performance on Saturday.

James Adkin, prosecuting, said there was serious disorder outside the Riverside club on the city’s quayside in the early hours of June 26 last year.
The jury heard Lua Lua started the violence after he argued with a man called Michael Ball outside the club, and punched him in the face. “He seemed to admit it was his arrogance and attitude that had caused the trouble,” Mr Adkin said.
“Whatever the precise circumstances of the argument, that confrontation between Kazenga Lua Lua and Michael Ball was the spark that caused the significant upsurge in violence.
“A group of black males surged over to Michael Ball and friends. At one stage some witnesses suggest someone blew a whistle which seemed to galvanise the black males into action.”
It was only good fortune that prevented more serious injury in the fighting that followed, the jury heard.
A man called Jordan Bogie, who tried to help Mr Ball, was punched to the floor and was repeatedly kicked while he was unable to defend himself, Mr Adkin said.
“The men in the dock were part of that aggressive group of black men who surged over to the white males and kicked and punched them unlawfully,” he added
