Defeat for Albion youngsters

Albion's development team tumbled to a 4-1 defeat against Swansea at The Amex tonight.

Kazenga LuaLua, restricted to a watching brief in the first team for much of the season so far, had a run-out as the Seagulls' three-match unbeaten run without conceding a goal came to an emphatic end.

LuaLua crossed for Anton Rodgers to drill in an 85th minute consolation but they were a well beaten side by that stage.

Former Cardiff prospect Kurtis March gave Swansea a 16th minute lead with a fine solo effort after intercepting Rodgers' pass.

Albion fell further behind to the slick Welshmen five minutes later, a curling free-kick from 30 yards by Lee Lucas beating Daniel East into the top corner, even though the keeper got a hand to it.

Luke Williams' Seagulls threatened a revival after half-time but Rory Donnelly nodded in Swansea's third on 62 minutes after East parried an acute angled drive from Premier League regular Danny Graham, making his comeback from illness.

Graham tapped in Swansea's fourth (82) from Donnelly's square pass.

Albion (4-1-2-3): East; Akubuine, Jones (Barry 84), McGiveron, Sampayo; Richards; March (Peake 76), Rodgers; Agdestein, Goodwin (Cousins 76), LuaLua. Subs not used: Smith.

Interesting squad, how many have come through the youth side? And where is the Brazilian lad we signed and brought over? Results don't matter.

I think we all know the anser to this deep down.Thats why THFC were only after Grant Hall.I just hope fans never have to pay out good money again to watch Dunk.Even Palace fans have been saying how bad the guy is.The club needs to be a little bit more honest with the fans about some of these players. How about Anton Rodgers going up to Liverpool & letting them pay his free wages would be a start.

Lets face it the players we have sent out on loan to lower league clubs are not setting the world alight.Their just very lucky rich young lads that have parents that know the right people.Lets face it,its not about their talent as the result above proves.

I know who 'freeloader' is. Those of you who have been on this site a few years will remember Dave someone or other - later 'Hove actually'. His postings were always ludicrous and he was eventually he was eventually kicked off the site for making anti-gay remarks - yes, I know in a Brighton based paper - honestly some people.!
He always reckoned that youth players were at the club because their parents were rich and had paid the club to take them on. He particularly hated Adam El Abd - who, as we al know is the best defender at the club.
Welcome back big fella. You bring much needed mirth to the site. Glad to see your spelling has improved -those literacy lessons cetainly paid off.

I thought the same, he always was chatting to someone at the petrol station, he did have a point about the set up as it was under hInsh, players came through in spite of the coaching not down to it.
As for silly comments the results mean nothing, the youth used to play aldeshot , win 5-0 ... Pointless football against poor players, the ads will learn more from last night.

Of course "even the Palace fans" are saying Dunk is awful. He made a poor decision and the ramifications of it were significant.

I think you'll find however that most Albion fans can see the bigger picture and whilst annoyed by Dunk's rash lunge on Saturday, actually see that he is a fine prospect who hopefully has many good years ahead of him.

So even the Palace fans thought Dunk was awfull. So they judged him in just the 8mins he was on the pitch.I would say with the lack of cover he had he made a split second decision whether to let Palace score or lunge in and try to retrieve the ball.He was unlucky.
