Gus Poyet has praised Romain Vincelot following his departure from Albion.
The versatile Frenchman was under contract until the end of the season but agreed last night to terminate his deal by mutual consent.
Vincelot joined the Seagulls from Dagenham and Redbridge for £100,000 two summers ago.
The 27-year-old made 20 appearances last season in a variety of positions but became surplus to requirements after boss Poyet strengthened his squad.
He spent the first half of the current campaign on loan to League Two title chasers Gillingham and is now free to find another club.
Poyet said: “He helped the side in many different positions last year but with the players we brought in over the summer he knew that his chances would be limited this season.
“We were honest with him and he was a great professional around the club and on the training ground. We wish him all the best of luck for the rest of his career.”
Development squad defender Matt McGiveron, signed from Liverpool last summer, has also had his contract terminated by mutual consent.
