MATT Upson has urged Albion to make the most of their opportunity to secure a play-off spot.
The sixth-placed Seagulls will have a four-point cushion over closest chasers Leicester City with six games left if they beat Charlton tonight.
Leicester, visitors to The Amex on Saturday, missed the chance to jump back above Albion in the play-off zone yesterday when they lost 2-0 at Barnsley.
Former England centre-half Upson, above, said: “I think we are in a really strong position. There’s everything to play for, it’s in our own hands.
“We are going to control the future in that sense by the way we play and adapt ourselves and it'’s a great position to be in at this stage of the season.”
Victory tonight will also move Albion up to fifth above Nottingham Forest, their highest position since early October, and to within two points of fourth-placed Crystal Palace.
Forest needed an injury time penalty from Lewis McGugan to salvage a 1-1 draw at Burnley, while arch-rivals Palace have lost three in a row after ten-man Blackpool beat them 1-0 at Bloomfield Road.
