Suspended Albion boss Gus Poyet has been denied another potential route away from his problems with the club.
Wigan are reportedly poised to confirm former Burnley and Bolton chief Owen Coyle as their new manager.
Poyet had been linked with the relegated FA Cup winners following the departure of his close friend Roberto Martinez to Everton.
