Albion could benefit financially from a Premier League switch for Elliott Bennett.
The Seagulls’ ex-winger, below, is likely to be reunited with his former Norwich chief Paul Lambert at Aston Villa next season.
Albion have so far received almost £2 million from Norwich as part of the deal which took Bennett to the Canaries in June 2011.
The package included a sell-on clause, which could spark a modest reward for the club if Bennett ends up at Villa Park.
The 23-year-old, a regular when Lambert was in charge at Carrow Road, made only nine Premier League starts under Chris Hughton last season.
Bennett was being targeted by Albion for a possible return if they had won promotion from the Championship.
The Seagulls host Norwich in their final pre-season friendly at The Amex on July 30.
