Red-carded Albion defender Inigo Calderon has visited his crocked Newport County opponent in hospital.
The Seagulls full-back told Byron Anthony he hopes he makes a rapid recovery from the double leg-break he suffered when the pair clashed at The Amex on Tuesday.
Calderon was sent off by referee Brendan Malone but Albion hope to clear him on appeal.
Head coach Oscar Garcia does not have any fit, experienced, specialist full-backs for the visit of Derby County on Saturday.
Calderon asked to see Anthony late on Tuesday night after he was taken to Royal Sussex County Hospital.
The Seagulls star said: “Of course we were disappointed to lose and it’s not nice to be sent-off.
“But my first thoughts were for Byron because it was a horrible injury.
“Nobody wants to see that happen to a team mate or an opponent.
“I wish him a speedy recovery and hope he gets back playing soon.”
