ALBION chairman Tony Bloom, left, does not expect the club to do much transfer business in January –apart from keeping hold of Leroy Lita.

The Seagulls signed Leo Ulloa and Matt Upson in the last January window, although Ulloa would have arrived five months sooner if the Argentinian striker's move from Almeria had not been delayed by passport issues.

Bloom said: “We don't need that this January, assuming we get our injured players back. I don’t like doing too much business in January and this January I don’t expect to do very much at all.”

Lita has been signed on loan from Swansea until January 1 but the striker’s stay is likely to last longer.

Bloom said: “I think there’s a great chance. I don’t want to talk too much beyond the first of January. If Leroy plays games and does well there is a conversation to be had at the end of the year.

“We are delighted we’ve got him, he’s got a great pedigree. He’s a bit short of match fitness. Once he gets that I think he is going to be a huge benefit.”

Ulloa and most of Albion’s other long-term injured are sheduled to return by December.

Bloom said: “I’m hopeful that at that point, when we have got our full squad, we’ve got a squad which is among the best in the Championship and I’m hoping we can make a run for the play-offs between now and the end of the season.”
