Albion will have to wing it without Will Buckley against Blackburn at The Amex this Saturday.
But his absence should be limited to only one match.
Hamstring trouble forced Buckley off during the second half of last Saturday's 3-1 win at Doncaster.
Club doctor Helge Riepenhof told The Argus: "He probably needs a few more days. He will not be ready for Saturday.
"It's one of the typical mid-range hamstring injuries. He has made good progress and we will continue working on his recovery."
Buckley should be available for Albion's next match after Blackburn's visit, at Wigan on November 23.
The right-winger suffered hamstring problems last season.
Riepenhof said: "When you switch between the soft pitches we had in Brighton, because of all the rain we had, and a very firm pitch which is also a rugby pitch at Doncaster then these things happen."
