Albion will be without captain and centre-half Gordon Greer for the third match running against Millwall.

Striker Sam Baldock also remains a major doubt for the Lions’ Friday evening visit.

Greer had played every minute of every Championship match this season until a swollen knee sidelined him from the defeats by Fulham and Derby.

The long-standing problem is improving but the Millwall showdown is expected to come too soon for the experienced Scot.

Manager Sami Hyypia said: “His knee is a bit better but we need to assess how it is over the next few days. He probably won’t be able to play.”

Baldock has been unable to train due to a recurrence of thigh trouble. The injury ruled him out of the squad at Derby on Saturday.

Solly March has come through his first start of the season at Derby following a stress fracture of the back and Spaniard Adrian Colunga is available after suspension to increase Hyypia’s attacking options.

Hyypia said: “It was very good that Solly lasted as long as he did (68 minutes) and he will be more ready on Friday to step up his game.

“The situation is a bit different than it was on Saturday but I don’t think we lost that game because we had problems on the offensive front, we lost the game because of other things.”
