Albion have made a transfer deadline day bid for Blackpool midfield prospect Mark Waddington, according to an Argus source in Lancashire.

The Seagulls are believed to have made an offer of around £100,000 for the 18-year-old, which Blackpool have rejected.

It is understood to be the second bid made by Albion for Waddington, who has turned down a new contract with the Championship's bottom club since starring in the FA Cup against Aston Villa earlier this month.

He came on for the last 17 minutes of the Seagulls' 1-0 defeat at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

Waddington would be a development rather than immediate first team option for Albion.
