CLYDE gaffer Joe Miller has set his side a testing target for the First Division run-in.

A comprehensive 3-0 derby defeat of Hamilton took the Bully Wee's hot streak to four wins on the bounce and moved them into third place.

But with leaders Gretna, who beat Dundee 1-0 yesterday, out of reach, Miller is determined to claim a second place finish by overhauling St Johnstone.

The delighted Broadwood boss said: "Right now we are doing the simple things really well and that is very pleasing.

"The great thing is that we are creating chances and we are taking them and, in that respect, there has been none better for us than Gary Arbuckle who scored another great goal."

Clyde were two up before the break thanks to goals from Arbuckle and Stevie Masterton, before Dougie Imrie wrapped things up two minutes before time.

Miller added: "But I'd also like to single out the contribution of Brian Gilmour, who has been superb for us since we signed him from Rangers."

Hamilton boss Billy Reid was unavailable for post- match comment.

Elsewhere, Airdrie United climbed off the bottom of the table thanks to a fine 3-1 home win over nine-man Livingston.

In Division Two, a commanding 3-0 win at Alloa maintained Morton's four- point lead at the top.

And Ton gaffer Jim McInally said: "Peter Weatherson's goal right on half-time gave us a massive lift and, although we didn't play particularly well, it was all about getting the win.

"But I am delighted for Peter as that was his 100th career goal. He is in double figures for us from right- back and that tells you what an important player he is for Morton."

However, Stirling Albion maintained the pressure on the Ton with a fine 1-0 win at Raith Rovers.

Binos boss Allan Moore said: "We played exceptionally in the first half, but we certainly got a wee bit of luck at the end. Now we entertain Morton this week in what is a huge game."
