FIREFIGHTERS young and old gathered to remember the 19 Glasgow servicemen who died in Britain's worst peace-time fire disaster.
The Cheapside Street fire of 1960 led to the deaths of 13 firemen and six members of Glasgow Salvage Corps when a blast demolished a wall.
Yesterday firefighters attended a memorial service and wreath-laying ceremony at Glasgow Necropolis to mark the 47th anniversary.
The fire on March 28, 1960, happened at a warehouse of the Arbuckle Smith whisky distillery in Anderston.
Paul Austin, group manager at Strathclyde Fire and Rescue, said: "While we're here to mark this day, we also remember all our colleagues who have fallen in the line of duty throughout the UK."
