Albion have been drawn away to League One new boys Southend United in the first round of the Capital One Cup.
The tie against Phil Brown’s men will take place in the week commencing August 10 and will therefore be the second game of the season.
A precise date has yet to be announced.
Albion have bowed out in the first round in two of the last three seasons but last year they got past Cheltenham 2-0 at the Amex to spark one of their best ever runs in the competition.
They lost 3-2 at Roots Hall in the same competition in 2006-07 when they were a League One side and Southend were playing in the Championship.
