Dale Stephens will miss Albion's opening pre-season friendly in Switzerland tomorrow.

But Sam Baldock could play a part against FC Meyrin in Geneva (2pm).

Stephens has been sidelined by illness from the run-out, which comes at the end of a week-long training camp for the squad in the French Alps.

Fellow midfielder Andrew Crofts will also sit the game out as Albion nurse him towards a full recovery from a second serious knee injury but striker Baldock could be involved for the first time since suffering knee ligament damage in March.

Boss Chris Hughton will utilise the rest of the squad, including outings for new signings Liam Rosenior, Gaetan Bong and Tomer Hemed.

Hughton said: "The first game is about making sure we get through it with no injuries. The players will play 45 minutes each."

Goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa, who stayed in England after signing this week, is likely to be involved in Albion's second friendly at Lewes a week tomorrow (3pm).
