Chris Hughton is awaiting further reports on Liam Rosenior after confirming the left-back suffered a knee injury in the win over Birmingham.
Rosenior was stretchered off after clashing with City’s Maikel Kieftenbeld.
Hughton said he knew instantly his player was in trouble.
But he cleared Kieftenbeld of any blame.
Hughton said: “It is certainly his knee. To what extent I don’t know yet and we will certainly find out in the next couple of days.
“It was one of those where, as soon as I saw the challenge, I knew he would be coming off.
“It was certainly nothing malicious. It was just a whole-hearted challenge.
“I have yet to see it again but I think it was just two very competitive players so we hope it’s not too bad.”
