Albion winger Solly March is having surgery today which will determine whether he is ready for the start of next season.
March has been ruled out of the rest of Albion's Championship promotion challenge after rupturing an anterior cruciate knee ligament at Derby last Saturday.
Boss Chris Hughton told The Argus: "He's having an operation today. I think we need to wait until after he has the operation.
"We are under the impression there will be no complications but the time period we won't know until after today.
"We're hoping it's good news and that we can certainly have him for next season."
Hughton has no fresh injury worries for Saturday's top-of-the-table showdown with leaders Middlesbrough at the Amex.
