Glen Rea has become a loan target for former Albion No. 2 and coach Nathan Jones.
The Seagulls' utility prospect is on the radar of Luton Town, where Jones is now the manager.
Rea has just returned to Albion from five months on loan at League One Southend United, where he made 16 appearances.
Boss Phil Brown would like the Republic of Ireland under-21 centre-half or defensive midfielder back on loan or permanently but faces competition from Jones and Luton.
The Hatters are 18th in League Two, eight points adrift of the play-offs, after Jones launched his first taste of management with a 0-0 draw at home to Cambridge United on Saturday.
