Steve Sidwell has urged Albion to target automatic promotion after their composed taming of the Tigers.

The vastly-experienced midfielder believes the Seagulls underlined their top-two credentials with a 0-0 draw at Hull City.

But he admits trips to Cardiff City and Bristol City will be no easy touches as they complete a trilogy of away games in the space eight days.

Asked if the target for Albion was now a top-two finish, Sidwell said: “Of course it is, the table doens’t lie.

“Hull will be up there or thereabouts. You’ve seen Middlesbrough doing well, Burnley doing well. But I’ve done this league before and anybody can beat anybody. If you look too far you are done for.

“People will look at what we did at Hull. They will have thought before the game they could see this being a 0-0. Two teams up near the top not wanting to lose, wanting to be there or thereabouts.

“But there were spells when we created chances.”

Sidwell, who enjoyed the first start of his second loan spell at the KC Stadium, believes the word is put on Albion’s swift counter-attacking.

He said: “Hull were fearing us looking at our record.

“With the Brentford match being televised, they will have seen that and known we are dangerous on the break.”
