Albion could face a depleted Nottingham Forest side when they head to the banks of the Trent.

But that does not necessarily mean life will be easy for them in what looks a game they probably need to win if they are to break back into the top two. Just ask the class of 2014.

Forest have been decimated in attack and central defence by a spate of injuries. They will have several senior players missing when they host the Seagulls tomorrow.

But many Albion fans will recall how what was effectively a second-string Forest side so nearly ended their play-off dreams on the last day of the 2013-14 season.

The Argus:

Michael Mancienne is a big doubt

The hosts could have to depend on converted left-back Danny Fox or untried Joe Worrall, who has been playing for Dagenham and Redbridge in League Two, in central defence.

Michael Mancienne and Jack Hobbs are likely to be the most notable absentees in that area.

Mancienne, the former Chelsea defender who was attracting such rave reviews at one stage of his career, has damaged knee ligaments and retains no better than an outside chance of facing Albion.

Hobbs has been battling against a back problem but has now admitted defeat and had an operation.

Kelvin Wilson walked off after 30 minutes at Reading with a back problem but the experienced former Bolton man Matt Mills is fit and available. Fox (pictured below), best known as a left-back, played in the middle at Reading on Tuesday and did not do badly.

The Argus:

And Forest have recalled 19-year-old Worrall, who has had 14 games for Dagenham but has never played for his parent club. He is likely to be on the bench.

Head coach Paul Williams said: “We are getting a few bad cards dealt us at the minute. Kelvin has a back spasm, his back was sore. But Danny Fox did well enough at Reading when he came on. He will get a chance to play now.

“Mancienne will not be out for as long we thought. He has a chance of playing against Brighton, but it will be touch and go.”

Things are no better at the other end of the pitch. Britt Assombalonga, who had such a goal-laden start to life with Forest has now been out for more than a year.

He has made a comeback with the under-21s, enjoying an hour against Charlton this week, and there is a chance he could be on the bench. But he would clearly not be fully in first-team rhythm.

Matty Fryatt has not played all season due to an Achilles problem and Nelson Oliveira, who did well after joining on loan from Benfica, will miss out with a groin problem.

Dexter Blackstock tends to start but Jamie Ward could get the nod this time. The option on the bench of late, Chris O’Grady, is taken out of the equation against his parent club.

With playmaker Andy Reid also absent, Forest have not had a lot of luck.

But Albion will hope to show no sympathy and cash in.
