Albion boss Chris Hughton has welcomed the goal rush which has boosted the automatic promotion push.

The Seagulls are the joint highest scorers in the Championship on 67 goals with promotion rivals Burnley following Tuesday’s 4-0 win against QPR at the Amex.

Jiri Skalak became their 15th different scorer in the league with a stunning strike and Albion have hit the target 26 times in an 11-match unbeaten run after 41 goals in the previous 32 games.

Hughton told The Argus: “It’s pleasing and what we have done is spread goals around the team.

“It’s just amazing how a season can change, because for big chunks we’ve not looked like a team that could score a lot of goals.

“For a long part of the season we hadn’t won a game by more than a goal, so it is a transformation and thankfully for us at a good time.

“We are certainly in a good rhythmn at the moment and scoring goals.”

Albion went goal crazy against Rangers and against Fulham in their 5-0 thrashing last Friday following slow starts in both games.

Hughton said: “That’s a concern but fortunately at the moment we’ve got players who are motivated and have enough desire to get results.”

On Saturday Albion go to Charlton, who were relegated by Tuesday’s 0-0 draw at Bolton.

Hughton warned: “Bolton were relegated and came within a whisker of beating Middlesbrough at home last week, so sometimes it can have the opposite effect.”
