James Wilson is a doubt for Albion's crucial clash at relegated Charlton on Saturday.

The on-loan Manchester United striker missed the second half of Tuesday's 4-0 thrashing of Queens Park Rangers at the Amex with a groin problem.

Boss Chris Hughton said: "It's certainly more promising than we thought. We knew it was minor and we're delighted we took him off at half-time.

"He is a doubt for Saturday but we are certainly not ruling him out. We hope to know more tomorrow and he will still travel with us."

Wilson was replaced for the second half against Rangers by Sam Baldock, making his comeback from a recurrence of hamstring trouble.

Hughton said: "We still don’t have Bobby (Zamora). At the moment we have James, Tomer (Hemed) and Sam and we need to keep them fit and available.

"Sam is 100 per cent fit and on Tuesday we were able to get him back involved. It was his hamstring that kept him out for a couple of games and we didn't use him against Fulham which helped. He is fully fit now and we know what he can bring to the team."

If Wilson joins Zamora (hip) on the sidelines then Albion will be back down to two recognised strikers, a situation they coped with when Baldock was missing for recent back-to-back away wins at Birmingham and Nottingham Forest.

Hughton said: "We have flexibility. (Steve) Sidwell has played up top a bit, Jamie Murphy has played there before and Jiri (Skalak) can too."

Meanwhile, German centre-half Uwe Huenemeier, out since mid-December with a groin injury, could yet play a part in the promotion push.

Hughton told The Argus: "We hope he will train with the team next week. We took good medical advice and he's been out a long time and he had an operation that set him back a bit.

"We need to keep everyone’s fitness levels up, because you never know what can happen."
