CHRIS O’Grady will spend the final year of his disastrous move to Albion reunited with Nigel Clough at Championship rivals Burton Albion.

The centre-forward has joined promoted Burton on loan for the season, his third temporary switch in as many years.

The Argus revealed yesterday Albion’s plans to move on fringe players with no hope of featuring in Chris Hughton’s plans.

O’Grady, bought from Barnsley for £500,000 three years ago, has begun the process by linking up again with Clough, Sheffield United’s manager when he had a loan spell with the Blades in 2014.

The Nottingham-born 30-year-old spent last season on loan to Forest, scoring twice in 21 appearances. He made only 15 league starts for Albion, the last at Middlesbrough 14 months ago.

Hughton said: “This is a really good opportunity for Chris. Last season he went to Nottingham Forest and played a lot of games, which was really beneficial for him.

“He knows that it will be difficult for him here to get the games that he would want. He’s always been very professional and trained well, and he’s a good person to have around the place, but I’m pleased he’s got this opportunity to go and play games.

“It’s also a move that suits him from a family perspective and it will give him the games that he needs at this stage of his career.”

O’Grady will not be allowed to play against Albion when they go to Staffordshire in September or when his latest employers visit the Amex in February.

Burton are the 15th different club he has represented. He has also played for Leicester, Notts County, Rushden and Diamonds, Rotherham, Oldham, Bury, Bradford, Stockport, Rochdale and Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Albion have made another addition to their under-21s squad, signing defender Sam Adekugbe on loan for the season from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.
