Chris Hughton said Albion were beaten by the better side as they lost 2-0 to Brentford today.

He felt the Bees were better in possession as Scott Hoganls double gave them the points.

The Seagulls manager said: “I thought they kept the ball better than we did.

“We didn’t allow ourselves the opportunity to impose our game on them and I have no complaints with the result.

“There is no doubt goals and how you react to them change the game.

“We got into some good areas but it was probably about the team which got that first goal – and it lifted them.”

Hughton was unsure whether Albion should have been awarded a penalty when Elvis Manu tangled with Harlee Dean.

But he felt his substitute was unfortunate to be yellow-carded for diving.

Hughton said: “It’s absolutely not a booking but I’m not so sure it’s a penalty “I’ve only seen one angle.”
