Chris Hughton has called on Albion to remember their best performance of the season when they return to the East Midlands.

The Seagulls boss is delight to be back to winning ways after his side beat Championship leaders Huddersfield on Tuesday.

But he still believes there is more to come from them in terms of quality of performance – and that their first-day 0-0 draw at Derby, when they had chances to win the game, set the standard.

Albion visit the Rams’ neighbours Burton Albion on Saturday happy they are back on track in terms of results after two successive defeats.

Hughton said: “Huddersfield was a big three points but, if I looked at our form, I still think our best performance out of all of them was at Derby. We have been a bit hit and miss but hopefully this can kick start us and we can get a result at Burton.

“We can’t keep talking about last season but we have a team who want to do well.

“You can’t do well if you don’t have enough character in the team.

“We have got that but probably our quality has let us down at times.”

Sam Baldock could return to the matchday 18 at the Pirelli Stadium.

The forward missed the defeat by Brentford through suspension but has also been struggling with a calf niggle which kept him out in midweek.

Hughton said: “We thought he would be okay on Tuesday. We could have taken a chance with him, even on the bench, but we felt it wasn’t worth taking that risk.

“We are hoping he will train on Thursday and Friday and be available on Saturday.”
