ALBION goalscorer Glenn Murray is keen to make his loan move from Bournemouth permanent.

Murray has bagged 15 goals in 23 outings to spearhead the table-topping Seagulls’ push for promotion to the Premier League since rejoining them for the season in the summer.

Cherries chief Eddie Howe is open to the possibility of Murray’s switch along the South Coast becoming permanent in January and so is the 33-year-old hotshot, who has 18 months left on his contract.

Murray said: “That’s between the clubs. As far as Bournemouth was left towards the end of last season, I wasn’t involved much and I don’t think I’m too much in the gaffer’s plans, so yes it would be nice to get out and keep playing football.”

Howe, speaking last week, said: “We can’t bring him back. He is on a season-long loan.

“If Brighton were looking to recruit the player permanently, that could be something the loan could break for but we will have to wait and see.”

Murray is ending 2016 on a high with nine goals in as many games ahead of Cardiff’s visit tonight, following a bleak start to the year.

He said: “It was at the beginning of the year a really difficult stage of my career, almost being frozen out at Bournemouth, not playing at all, in the stand most weeks, and I found that frustrating because playing football is what matters to me and what I enjoy.

“Now to be finishing the year off scoring goals is a real turnaround. It’s nice to be in this position.”

Murray is eager for another crack at the top flight after netting three times in six starts and 13 Premier League substitute appearances for Bournemouth last season, including the only goal in a memorable victory at Chelsea.

He said: “I’d like to get that chance again. I feel as though my goal record in the Premier League holds up, starts versus goals, and I would just be happy to get back there and try to score more goals in that division.”
