Steve Sidwell admitted Albion's 1-1 draw with Ipswich Town felt like a loss.

Tomer Hemed's 30th-minute spot-kick after Bruno was felled cancelled out Luke Chambers' early opener for the visitors but the Seagulls were unable to find a winner.

Midfielder Sidwell said: “We were deflated. It feels like a loss. We want to pick up maximum points all the time at home.

“It doesn’t matter who we play, we set out to win.

“I think most importantly we are disappointed in the goal we conceded and the chances we let them have.”

Sidwell prevented Ipswich adding a second goal, although, he is not quite sure how he did it.

The midfielder somehow got in the way of David McGoldrick’s close range blast in a scramble during the second half.

He said: “I’d love to say it was all down to me but it just hit me on the top of the head and went over.

“It was just right place, right time and it was lucky that one didn’t go in.

“It came so fast. It could have easily gone into the roof of the net.”

Sidwell revealed Albion were unhappy with how many chances they allowed Ipswich, who went ahead from an early set-piece.

He added: “We huffed and puffed, we put pressure on but it wasn’t meant to be.

“I thought we were going to create chances but sometimes it left us a little bit exposed at the other end.

“As the gaffer said when we came in, we could easily have won but we could easily have lost it towards the end.

“He wanted us to just tighten it up a little but at least our endeavour was there and we tried to win the game and that is all we can do."
