ALBION are ready to unleash their rapid record signing Jose Izquierdo on the Premier League at Watford tomorrow.

But the £13.5 million Colombian left-winger may have to bide his time from the bench for his chance at Vicarage Road.

The Seagulls have secured international clearance for fleet-footed Izquierdo and manager Chris Hughton says he will be involved in the squad.

Hughton told The Argus: “He’s done well in training, but the biggest area for him is once he is involved in the game and the big spaces and what the games mean.

“He’s a talented player. That we know, his record at Brugge shows that.

“But there is a difference and it’s going to be how quickly he gets into what we want to do on the pitch.

“There are always going to be two sides, how he fits into the team unit and what he can give us offensively, which is predominantly the reason we have bought him.”

Hughton decided against blooding Izquierdo in Tuesday’s Carabao Cup win against Barnet.

He said: “We felt he would benefit from a week’s training with us, because although he’s had a good pre-season, he’s relatively short of match practice.

“He has settled in very well. We had him here for a period of time before the work permit was agreed, so it seems like he has been around for a little while now.”

Meanwhile, Albion have the all-important work permit hearing today for projected £10 million striker signing Raphael Dwamena from Zurich FC.

If the Seagulls get the green light then the administrative details of the Dwamena deal should be finalised before West Brom’s visit on September 9, although the 21-year-old is on World Cup duty for Ghana twice against Congo in the days leading up to that match.

Hughton said: “The process will be done over the next few days and, providing that gets approved, we then lose him for a period of time, which is disappointing, but it is what it is.”
