CHRIS HUGHTON has revealed he feared a lengthy lay-off for Glenn Murray.

The Albion boss has confirmed Murray suffered “a minor ankle injury” in the Seagulls recent 2-0 defeat at Leicester.

Although the club are reluctant to put a timescale on his return, it is thought the two forthcoming trips to his former club Bournemouth are not out of the question.

Albion hope to see Murray back in training next week.

Speculation was mounting that last term’s top scorer could face a lengthy lay-off.

Hughton told The Argus: “I can understand that. I feared that as well because of the swelling afterwards.

“We are delighted it is only a minor ankle injury.

“It now depends on how things settle down.

“It is expected he will be out for a matter of weeks.”

Murray himself took to social media yesterday to knock back suggestions that he had been ruled out for three months.

He replied: “Have I? That’s news to me.”

Hughton said the news on Murray had not affected their plans for the final day of the transfer window.

The Seagulls are believed to be interested in Deportivo La Coruna forward Florin Andone, whose pace caused Real Madrid problems recently.

Depor are reluctant to let their Romanian star go even if a planned move for Arsenal forward Lucas Perez goes ahead.

Meanwhile Bruno has trained this week after leaving the 0-0 draw at Watford midway through with a back issue.
