Albion have cooled their interest in Bristol City defender Aden Flint, according to his manager.
The Seagulls are known to be interested in the 6ft 6in centre-back and were linked with a £6 million bid.
City boss Lee Johnson believes Flint will stay at Ashton Gate.
He said: “Well, I can tell you now at this stage the last email received was that Brighton no longer have any interest in the player.
"So that's the latest news on that. Whether they'll change their mind on that, who knows.
“I think we'll retain everybody, I really do. I've told you before that it will have to be an unbelievable amount of money for us to think about it particularly with one of our key players.”
