PASCAL GROSS has vowed to work harder than ever after signing a new Albion deal.

The German playmaker agreed terms taking him through to the summer of 2022.

He has been rewarded for a stellar first Premier League campaign after arriving for a bargain £3.5million on an initial four-year contract last summer.

Gross believes opponents will be aware of what he and the Seagulls can offer as they go into a second Premier League campaign.

That is why he is ready to put the work in to match and improve on last term’s efforts.

Gross, who totalled seven goals and eight assists to help Albion to 15th place, told The Argus: “It quite often happens that the second season is harder.

“I hope not for us, I hope we do well.

“But in the second season the emotions from the promotion goes away.

“People expect what you showed the year before. The other teams don’t under-rate you, they know everything about you. That is normal.

“That’s why you have to work even harder and be well prepared.

“Maybe they under-rated us. You never know.

“But I think a lot of promoted teams do well in the first year and struggle in the second.

“You have to know this and have to work harder.”
