Liam Bridcutt has told Luka Modric he would be better off staying at Spurs than moving to his old club Chelsea.

The Albion midfielder could come up against the Croatian magician in the official opening of The Amex against Tottenham tomorrow.

Chelsea have already had bids of £22 million and £27 million rejected by Spurs for Modric. They are reportedly lining up a final take-it-or-leave it offer of around £30 million for the 25-year-old.

Bridcutt believes Modric would be unwise to make the move from North to West London.

The ex-Chelsea prospect told The Argus: “If I was him I don’t think I would go.

“I know the money is going to be really good but is he going to be a weekly starter like he is at Tottenham? At the end of the day it boils down to playing football really.”
