Will Hoskins faces a fight to be fit for Albion’s Championship kick-off.
The summer signing’s hopes of making his league debut for the Seagulls in Saturday’s opener against Doncaster Rovers at The Amex are hanging in the balance.
Boss Gus Poyet rates him 50-50 for the clash but is relieved the hip problem sustained by the former Bristol Rovers marksman is only short-term.
Hoskins was sidelined from Saturday’s 3-2 friendly defeat against Spurs. Albion received the results of a scan on the injury yesterday and they revealed no significant damage.
Poyet said: “It’s practically nothing, a very little strain in the muscle. It’s not important and it is is improving daily very quickly.”
Poyet was uncertain whether or not Hoskins would be involved in today’s training session at the University of Sussex. He added: “From what Nathan Ring (physio) told me I think he has a 50-50 chance of playing on Saturday.”
