Albion are hoping to have new signing Ryan Harley available for the Carling Cup clash with Sunderland at The Amex tomorrow night.

The Swansea midfielder was at The Amex this morning but the Seagulls are still waiting for international clearance from the Welsh FA.

The paperwork has to be completed by noon and the red-tape hold-up has baffled Albion boss Gus Poyet.

He said: "If it's possible I would like to do it now. It's a difficult job.

"I know the club is doing everything possible, first with Swansea and then the transfer.

"This is the only league in the world where, when you buy a player from your league, it's an international transfer, one more to add to the funny side of football because it is only happening here.

"It's quite strange but that is the situation and we need to deal with it."
