ALBION chief Gus Poyet has pledged there is plenty more to come from Ryan Harley after a spectacular start to his Championship career.

Harley’s curling free-kick sealed Saturday’s 2-0 win against Peterborough at The Amex, which ensured the Seagulls go into the international break on top of the table.

The former Swansea midfielder made his debut in last week’s Carling Cup triumph against Sunderland and his manager believes Harley’s first two outings have offered just a glimpse of his capabilities.

Poyet told The Argus: “The ability he has on the ball is unique and once he gets the pace and understanding of our game there is only one way he is going to go and that is to get better and better.

“He is not just a midfielder or an offensive midfielder but a player who does things that were missing, especially from the moment Elliott Bennett left.

“We were looking for a free-kick taker and an ability to open up a game. I knew he had it in him and he proved it was the right decision for the football club and for the way that we play as well, because of the quality he has got on the ball.

“He just needs games. He played only 60, 45 and ten minutes pre-season, so he needs to play. A lot of our players have already played seven or eight 90 minutes but he will get there.”
