Craig Mackail-Smith has warned Albion to watch out for his close friend Aaron Mclean against Hull at The Amex tonight.

The pair were close on and off the pitch at Peterborough, sharing a room and an abundance of goals.

Mclean’s chances of being involved for the visitors have been increased by the absence of England under-21 striker Martyn Waghorn with a hamstring injury and a doubt about veteran Nicky Barmby (calf).

Mackail-Smith said: “He is one of my best pals in football. He was my room-mate at Peterborough, so I know him very well. I’ve already spoken to him and he’s looking forward to the game.

“I know his game inside out and I think he knows my game inside out. He’s a fantastic player and he’s got goals in him, so he is definitely one we will have to keep an eye on.

“We’ll be at opposite ends of the pitch, so hopefully I’ll be doing more attacking than he is!”

Mackail-Smith, 27, has dismissed fears his all-action style for Albion and Scotland could lead to burnout.

He said: “I just keep going and going. I’m hoping to get to at least 40.

“I just enjoy it. It’s not a long career and you don’t know when your last game is, so it’s just a case of running myself into the ground week in and week out and when the point comes where I don’t feel I can do any more I’ll hold my hands up.”
