Gordon Greer believes Albion have made a couple of shrewd loan signings – despite defeat on their debuts.
Greer felt there were plenty of positives to take from the 1-0 reverse to West Ham, including the performances of Steve Harper and Gonzalo Jara Reyes.
The skipper said: “They are both experienced players.
“Gonzo is a quality player. He is not getting in at West Brom so that is our gain. Steve is very experienced. He has played at the highest level and he is a great addition.”
Greer insists Albion’s recent winless run is no reason to panic. He added: “We’ve been playing all right in the last few games but we’re not getting the results.
“It’s disappointing we lost the game. I thought that was the best we have played for a while but West Ham are a good side and they dug in well.”
Poyet was delighted with his on-loan debutants saying: “Steve Harper came for a few crosses and gave us that calmness that we needed and Gonzalo understands football from another level. The way he controlled the ball and passed the ball that’s quality.”
