Matt Sparrow has pledged to stay in Gus Poyet’s plans now that he was worked his way back into Albion’s Championship line-up.

The back-in-favour midfielder is hoping for his fifth start in succession at Watford tonight after missing out for nearly a month.

Sparrow is under contract with the Seagulls until the end of next season and the 28-year-old is keen to make sure it stays that way.

He told The Argus: “Who would not want to be at this club at the moment? It’s going places with a fantastic stadium and fantastic support.

“I think everyone is just trying to get a new contract, trying to keep on playing well, keep figuring in the manager’s thoughts and plans.

“After being frozen out last month for a few games I wasn’t sure what was happening really and then to be drafted back in against Hull and then play a few games on the bounce now I’m delighted.

“This season has been a bit up and down for me really. I started the season, had a spell out and now I’m back in. All I can do is just train well every day.

“We’ve got a huge squad here, so if you are having a bad game or even training session that can affect his decision right up to the match. Everyone is in the same boat really.”
