Sharp-shooter Craig Mackail-Smith savoured a return to scoring form, then praised the men who ensured his goal was the winner.
Mackail-Smith ended a two-month goal drought with a fabulous right-foot finish and later headed against a post as Albion silenced Derby.
He admitted: “It’s fantastic to get on the scoresheet again but the most important thing is to get three points. It was great to get off to a good start and it was maybe a bit disappointing we didn’t get more goals.
“But the back four and the midfield were fantastic, stopped them from scoring and the three points move us up the league.”
Mackail-Smith followed up in stunning style after Ashley Barnes had competed for Inigo Calderon’s cross.
He added: “It was just a case of get my head over it and make sure I got it on target. It was nice to see it go in the top corner.”
