Joel Lynch could miss out on a reunion with Albion.

The Nottingham Forest defender will be assessed today after suffering a groin injury in Tuesday’s 4-0 home defeat by Leeds.

Lynch, who comes from Eastbourne, progressed through the Seagulls’ youth set-up and made his debut for the club in the Championship.

He moved from Withdean to the City Ground more than three years ago, initially on loan, and has recently produced his best series of performances for Forest.

Lynch, 24, has become a regular in central defence and scored his first goal for the club in the dramatic 3-2 home win over Ipswich.

However a groin injury reduced him to a virtual passenger for the closing stages of the defeat by Leeds and he is due to undergo further tests in the hope he will be fit for what would be a first game against his old club.

Albion’s development squad progressed to the fourth round of the Sussex Senior Cup with a 3-1 win at windswept Peacehaven last night.

Torbjorn Agdestein scored twice and hit a post late on. George Baker was also on target.

Albion led 2-0 at half-time but the County Leaguers were given hope by a close range finish on the hour from Rob O’Toole, who had earlier hit an upright with the score still 0-0.
