Gus Poyet admitted Albion were below their best today.

But he was delighted to see them dig in, then grab a stoppage-time winner at home to Nottingham Forest.

Will Buckley clinched all three points for his side after Romain Vincelot produced what his manager felt was the best touch of the game to tee him up.

Poyet felt Forest were marginally the better side.

He said: “Overall we didn't have a good game today.

“The main thing was to do the basics. We did what we needed to do and that made us win the game.

“But technically we were very poor today.

“We couldn't hold the ball, we couldn't control it. We couldn't find the right player. It was one of those days.

“Maybe we have learnt from the past. Sometimes you're going to suffer, you need to do your bit defensively, you need to mark, you need to make it difficult for the opposition.

“Sometimes, not today, you need the goalkeeper to save you as well.

“Then, if you stay in the game, you can have that bit of quality right at the end.”
